One of northern Nevada’s longest-running outdoor music traditions reaches a major milestone this summer: the 40th Annual Bowers Bluegrass Festival takes place on August 22–23, 2026, at Bowers Mansion. Expect to see 8 bands on Saturday and 5 on Sunday – so a full weekend of bluegrass music, family activities, and community celebration.
A packed 2-day lineup
On Saturday, gates open at 9 AM (nice and early!), with performances building toward a Contra Dance on the lawn before the day wraps at 7 PM. Sunday gates open at 10 AM, led off by youth group Salty Sally, followed by other exciting acts including San Francisco’s Bay Area Special, known for their close-harmony vocal arrangements.
Throughout the weekend, headliners include international bluegrass act Broken Compass Band, Caltucky, and Forest Thurman & Breakline. Don’t miss Ruby Herz, Nevada’s Junior Fiddle Champion for the 3rd consecutive year!
What to do at the Bowers Bluegrass Festival (besides the awesome music)
For the best experience, bring folding chairs – there’s a whole dedicated front section for blankets and low-backed chairs. Don’t worry about getting around, as a fleet of golf carts will shuttle guests between (the free) parking areas.
A playground, craft vendors, a pool and face painting round out the family offerings. Food trucks on site include Taqueria Villegas, We Can Warriors, Recipe Box Cheesecake, and Superswirl Ice Cream, with OnTap Mobile Pub handling beverages.
Keep in mind that no glass containers or pets are permitted on the grounds.
Tickets, discounts, and who gets in for free
Children 12 and under are admitted free! Students 13 and older with a valid ID (or a parent to vouch for them) receive discounted entry. Members of the Northern Nevada Bluegrass Association (NNBA) receive 20% off all tickets.
Weekend passes and single-day tickets are available online or at the gate – single days start at $50, and you can enjoy the whole experience for $120.
