If it’s your first time in Vegas, you’re probably excited and a little overwhelmed. That’s absolutely normal – there are so many things to do in Sin City, that it can be hard to prioritize. But don’t sweat it. There are definitely some classic spots that you cannot miss, and should be on your list. To make your trip smoother, we’ve put together a list of things to do on your first trip to Vegas.
1. Walk the Strip
Without a doubt, the Strip is the heart and joy of Vegas. Its lights, energy, and overall vibe is something that you won’t find anywhere else. It’s the perfect way to start your trip and get a sense of Sin City – don’t forget to snap a pic at the “Welcome to fabulous Las Vegas!” sign. Look around at every step, stop fora rooftop cocktail baron your way, and don’t forget that you can pop into all the resorts, to have a look around. Some are more impressive than others, and definitely a must-see. Read below for our top spots…
2. Stop by Caesar’s
If you pop in to see the lobby of one resort, make it this one. Everything about it is impressive, even before you step in. It will send you back to Italy, and back in the Roman times. Plus, The Hangover was filmed here, which makes it an even more popular spot. Moving on, next resort stop…
3. Bellagio’s
Another essential to-do on your first trip to Vegas is Bellagio’s. Watch the iconic fountain show, which happens every 15 or 30 minutes, depending on the time of your visit. It’s definitely a sight to see, and even nicer in the evening. After that, pop in and check out the Bellagio Conservatory, which always puts on an impressive seasonal display.
4. Helicopter ride
If budget allows, this is a very unique and cool way to see Vegas. The city of lights doesn’t disappoint from any angle, but it’s a sight to see from above. Most flights last about 10 minutes, and you’d need to be there half an hour before or so, so it won’t take up too much of your day. You can check prices and get more info here.
P.S.: if this isn’t within your budget, head to one of the many rooftop bars to get a view from above.
5. LINQ High Roller
And speaking of views, we had to include LINQ’s High Roller, which is the world’s largest observation wheel, offering stunning views of Vegas. For an extra fun ride, upgrade to happy (half)hour, and take it all in with a drink in your hand. Does it get any better?
6. Catch a show
Vegas is the entertainment capital of the world, and for good reason. Every night, hundreds or artists deliver amazing shows, no matter what you’re in the mood for. Vegas is the home base for world-acclaimed comedians, famous magicians, and incredible singers. Catch Cirque de Soleil, the Blue Man Group, or see who has a residence in Sin City at the time of your visit. Don’t forget to check out Sphere, a unique and incredible venue. No doubt, you’ll find a great fit for your trip.
7. Fremont Street
Once you’ve explored the Strip and all it has to offer, it’s time for a visit to Fremont Street, aka downtown Vegas. This was the city’s original entertainment street, and it has a more local vibe, compared to the Strip. You’ll find neon lights everywhere, and it feels more like a street party. Don’t miss it!
8. Try your luck at a casino
You can’t say Vegas without saying casinos, or gambling, so this is a must-do on your first trip to Vegas. Whether you’re usually into this, or never gambled a dollar in your life, this is the place to do it – just for fun. Pretty much every resort has a casino, so the possibilities are endless. Do a little bit of research to see which one fits your style better, and enjoy.
9. Try a celebrity restaurant or a buffet
Sin City is home to dozens of celebrity restaurants, for every and any budget. From Gordon Ramsay‘s steakhouses to Martha Stewart‘s Bedford or Wolfgang Puck‘s bar and grill, the possibilities are endless. It’s truly a Vegas experience to dine at one of these, and most resorts will be home to one.
If you’re on a budget trip – or just in a different mood – check out the buffets. Some start from just $30 per person, and some are a lavish experience, going for $100+…so in true Vegas style, there’s something for everyone.
10. Party on
It’s no secret that Vegas is a party city, and you probably know that already. What’s great about partying in Vegas is that it isn’t limited to clubs or weekend nights. For example, you can check out a pool party, which is a very typical Sin City thing to do (here are some of our favorites). Some will only accept resort guests, others are open. Whether you go for that, a Day Club, or a fun night out, you won’t leave Vegas without enjoying a great party.
