The Mesquite Hot Air Balloon Festival is returning to the skies, and the best part? It’s completely free to attend. Whether you’re a photography nerd, a family looking for an outing, going on a cute date, or just someone who thinks giant floating colorful things are amazing…this is the spot to be.
Festival schedule & timeline
Here’s everything you need to know to plan your trip!
- Morning kick-off: You’re gonna need to set an alarm for this one (sorry – this is the only ‘bad’ part, we promise). The main event kicks off every morning at roughly 7:30 AM, weather permitting. Windy days can mess with the schedule.
- Getting there: Head over to the Oasis Parking Lot across from the CasaBlanca Resort to watch the ascension. Seeing dozens of balloons lift off into the desert sunrise all at once is breathtaking. And yes, worth the early wake-up call.
- The night magic: If you aren’t an early bird – at no cost – don’t worry. On Friday and Saturday evenings from about 6 to 7 PM, the balloons stay grounded for the “Night Glow” (also called the Candlestick Show). Imagine a bunch of massive balloons glowing like giant lanterns, against the dark desert sky.
- Bonus boozy fun: On Saturday afternoon from 4 PM on, there’s a Champagne Tasting in the CasaBlanca showroom. Bubbly and balloons? You can sign us up.
Besides, there’ll be plenty of culinary treats and entertainment festivities going on throughout the 3-day weekend. You absolutely won’t go hungry or bored in Mesquite during that weekend.
Keep in mind that this is strictly a spectator event. While you can get up close and watch the magic happen, there are no passenger rides available. Feet on the ground, eyes on the skies!
