It’s happening! After months of rumors and intense speculation, the heavy metal gods have spoken: Metallica is bringing their Life Burns Faster residency to the Sphere in Las Vegas this fall.
If you thought you’d seen everything the legendary band had to offer – from massive stadium tours to intimate gigs and the legendary Snake Pit – get ready for an entirely new level of heavy. Metallica is coming to Sphere, and about to embrace the venue’s mind-bending technology. This is about to completely reinvent their live show, and we simply cannot wait.
The ‘no repeat’ rule
Metallica is keeping the fan-favorite ‘no repeat weekend’ tradition alive, which they kicked off during their M72 world tour. They’ll be playing a series of Thursday and Saturday night shows. The band is promising zero repeated songs between the 2 nights of each weekend. Whenever you go, it will be a unique spectacle.

What happens when Metallica meets Sphere

What happens when you combine Metallica’s catalog with the world’s highest-resolution, wrap-around LED screen? We’re thankfully about to find out. The residency will use the Sphere’s top notch tech to hit fans with the band’s sound and fury from every possible angle.
And if you’re wondering how all this happened, drummer Lars Ulrich gave us a bit of an insight. He admitted that it only took him about 12 seconds into U2’s opening night at the Sphere to realize Metallica needed to get in on the action. And we’re incredibly glad he came to that conclusion!
“This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting,” Ulrich said. “We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months time, and way psyched to go next level!”
