Back in the day, Vegas’s steakhouses attracted the biggest stars – and the Mob members – for good reason. They were classy, fun, and served delicious food…what’s not to love?! Nowadays, many say Vegas has changed, and that old charm is hard to find. But locals know there are still a couple of spots that feel like a throwback, like they’re stuck in time. Most agree: Hugo’s Cellar is one of those places. As is the case with many steakhouses from that time, Hugo’s once hosted names like Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, and Frank Sinatra.
Hugo’s Cellar, the definition of classiness

If you’ve never been here, Hugo’s Cellar is exactly what it sounds like: a cellar, serving great steaks since 1973. But rest assured, it will be the most beautiful cellar you’ve been to…if you’re looking for 80s beauty, of course. Travel back in time with red brick walls, wooden beams, and old-school decor.
Classiness enters the room from step one, especially if you’re a woman! Each lady receives a long-stem red rose as soon as she arrives, making this the perfect destination for date nights, Valentine’s, celebrations, and any other romantic occasions.

Once you’re sat down, let the show begin. Don’t get us wrong – food quality and taste comes first, but it’s beautiful when a place can deliver a whole experience. Hugo’s Cellar is one of the very few places that still offers table side service. You may think you’ve had loads of table side salads or guacamole else where, but here, it goes beyond. For examples, some of their appetizers are prepared table-side, so you can always be part of the show.
What sets it apart

Can it get better? Yes – every steak lover knows the meal becomes instantly better with great wine. Hugo’s has one of the most impressive wine lists you’ll find, which can honestly be overwhelming. But fear not, as the restaurant also has amazing sommeliers, who’ve been there for decades. There’s nothing they don’t know about any bottle on the menu! No need to go armed with knowledge – ask, sit back, relax, and sip.
To end the meal, all guests get complimentary fruit dipped in chocolate, with delicious whipped cream.
Last, but not least, whenever you browse the various reviews Hugo’s Cellar received throughout the years, you’ll notice that the staff always stands out. Not surprisingly, if you serve elite food (at elite prices), good service is expected – but most agree that people here go above and beyond, and some even claim they “felt seen.”
Should you visit Hugo’s Cellar?

This restaurant has one of the few ‘all inclusive’ menus and prices – meaning that when you order a steak, you’ll get the sides, and the table-side salad with it. However, that doesn’t mean it’s accessible. Hugo’s is definitely a fine-dining experience, and the prices reflect it, with most steaks going for around $100.
Overall, Hugo’s Cellar is a must-visit spot for those seeking a spot stuck in time. It’s not for everyone. If you’re after frills or modern touches, this isn’t a good choice. The manager would proudly tell you that the restaurant “hasn’t changed at all” – and that’s true. They don’t just sell steaks, or table side salads, but nostalgia, memories, and a trip down memory lane. With a rose!
