UNO fans and lovers got some amazing news earlier this week – UNO’s coming to Vegas! While opinions and memes filled the internet with enthusiasts already planning their trip, some were pretty…concerned. Thoughts like “imagine your rent is at stake and you just got slapped with a +4” were legit. A couple of people noticed and commented on an obvious issue with this plan…there cannot possibly be enough security. You’re not wrong – UNO thinks the same.
In a press release, the company cleared things up by mentioning that “the casino floor isn’t ready for us yet”, due to safety concerns. In other words, no, UNO is not gonna be at casinos anytime soon. So it was all fake news? Not exactly.
UNO Social Club
The controversial game (who hasn’t lost a friend over it or hasn’t talked to a sibling for days?!) is coming to one casino, for one weekend only. The experience is called UNO Social Club, and you’ll find it at the Palms Casino Resort this weekend only (July 18-20). However, the experience isn’t open to the public, but just a lucky few selected through a contest. And no gambling is allowed on the premises. For now, it’s basically a Mattel marketing campaign, but it does seem like it’s the beginning of something bigger. Here’s what the vice president and global head of games at Mattel said:
“We created Uno Social Clubs to reimagine what game night can be — bringing people together for real-world fun, connection, and a bit of friendly competition, The Uno Social Club in Las Vegas is just the beginning, and we’re excited to see how these new experiences inspire players to show up, play hard, and make unforgettable memories.”
Were you excited for this news, or concerned? Either way, it’s not happening just yet.
