If you’re looking for a home address that’s anything but ordinary, there’s a new community where you can take fandom and nostalgia to a whole new level. Located in Henderson, Nevada, the community of Serenity Place by Harmony Homes brings Pokémon-themed street names to Southern Nevada.
Living on Charizard Lane
Andrea Miller, Harmony Homes’ construction administration manager, came up with the idea while brainstorming with her kids, inspired by Pokémon’s lasting appeal and the popularity of Pokémon Go. Now, residents of the community have unique addresses like “Jigglypuff Place” and “Charizard Lane”.
Interestingly enough, she decided to leave out well-known “Pikachu” to keep the theme understated, instead choosing names like Snorlax, Charmander, and Squirtle.
The Pokémon era
The Pokémon craze began in the late 90’s, with the release of Pokémon Red and Blue games. These allowed players to catch, train, and battle creatures in their quest to “catch them all.” This concept quickly became addictive, leading to a hugely popular anime series, a trading card game, and a wide range of merchandise. Pokémon’s appeal spans generations, blending nostalgia with innovation. In 2016, Pokémon Go re-energized the franchise by letting fans catch Pokémon in real-world settings. Most of you will remember people spending hours outside to catch the rarest ones, or storming out of a place as soon as they received a notification.
Today, Pokémon remains one of the world’s top franchises, beloved for its adventure, community spirit, and timeless charm.
Fun names for happier communities
Choosing this unique theme wasn’t just meant to be attractive for children. Andrea also had in mind first-time buyers who grew up with Pokémon. Moreover – this isn’t her first go at nostalgic and playful street names – she previously contributed to another community by naming streets after “Paw Patrol” characters. Why? Simply because it’s fun. She hopes that this approach will add a playful touch to the daily lives of the residents. Hard to argue!
