Sphere just announced two exciting new projects in the works: The Wizard of Oz and From The Edge. Both are part of The Sphere Experience, the company’s lineup of original immersive content that locals and visitors both loved in the past. The Wizard of Oz is set to premiere on August 28, 2025, with From The Edge following in 2026.
According to Sphere’s CEO, Jim Dolan, the goal of these experiences is to take full advantage of what the venue has to offer, and help you immerse yourself in the story being told.
The Wizard of Oz at Sphere
The classic 1939 film The Wizard of Oz is getting a full-on immersive makeover for Sphere, and we’re just lucky enough for it to be right here in Las Vegas! In partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery, Google, and Magnopus, Sphere will use its well known cutting-edge technology to enhance the original film. Of course, you can expect this project to stay true to the tale’s magic. The Wizard of Oz will honor the beloved classic, while pushing the limits of what’s possible in an immersive experience. Anyone who’s already seen any show at Sphere, knows this will be one for the books.
This vision is brought to life by an amazing team: Academy Award producer Jane Rosenthal (The Irishman), Oscar-winning visual effects expert Ben Grossmann (Hugo), Academy Award-winning editor Jennifer Lame (Oppenheimer), and Creative Director Zack Winokur (Little Island).
From The Edge
From The Edge is the second experience Sphere has just announced, expected to debut in 2026.
This show will take you deep into the world of extreme sports, featuring top athletes like free diver Alenka Artnik, skier Markus Eder, rock climber Alex Honnold, BASE jumper Katie Hansen Lajeunesse, and surfer Kai Lenny.
The crazy action is being captured using Big Sky, aka Sphere’s cutting-edge camera system. Of course, you can expect ultra-high-quality visuals on Sphere’s massive display. But action’s not all this is about! The filming took place in some of the most amazing, breathtaking locations in the world. The experience will take you to Jordan, Switzerland, Dubai, Bahamas, Maui, and more.
From The Edge is produced by Vasarhelyi and Chin’s Little Monster Films.
Sphere
Sphere is packed with cutting-edge tech, including 167,000 individual speakers that can be fine-tuned for precise audio in every section. Its massive 160,000-square-foot screen surrounds the audience with over 171 million pixels for a fully immersive visual experience. And to top it off, 4D features like haptic seats will make these experiences even more intense.
