The Golden Age of travel is returning to Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)! A new program, “Gateside by TSA PreCheck,” allows certain individuals to pass through airport security without a plane ticket. This grants access to the gates, shops, and restaurants in the secure area of the terminal.
If you’ve ever wanted to surprise a loved one at their gate when they land in Vegas or enjoy a pre-flight meal with a friend during their layover, this program makes it possible. Here’s everything you need to know!
What is Gateside by TSA PreCheck?
Gateside by TSA PreCheck is a special authorization that permits non-travelers who are eligible for TSA PreCheck screening to access parts of the airport beyond the security checkpoint. This means you can escort family members directly to their departure gate, greet friends as they step off the plane, or even just enjoy the dining and shopping options usually reserved for ticketed passengers.
At LAS, this program utilizes the dedicated TSA PreCheck lanes, offering a smoother entry experience for approved visitors.
Who is eligible?
To apply for a Gateside pass, you must be a TSA PreCheck member or have a Known Traveler Number (KTN) from another trusted traveler program. This program is an exclusive benefit for trusted travelers – and is completely free of charge.
Families are welcome to participate. Children can accompany an eligible adult, provided they are included on the parent or guardian’s reservation when applying.
How to apply
- Apply in advance: You must request a pass through the Gateside application portal 1 to 3 days before your planned visit.
- Bring ID: Once approved, you’ll need to bring an acceptable form of ID to the airport and be prepared to show your approval status to a TSA officer.
- Bringing kids: Children are welcome to come along to the gate, but they must be explicitly included on their parent or guardian’s Gateside reservation.
What to expect at LAS

If your application is approved, getting to the gate is simple:
- Bring your ID: You must bring an acceptable form of identification, such as a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or passport.
- Checkpoint: Head straight to the TSA PreCheck lanes at LAS. Note that standard screening lanes or TSA PreCheck Touchless ID lanes cannot be used for this program.
- Verification: Be prepared to log into your Gateside dashboard on your phone to show the TSA Officer your approval status. Screenshots and printed copies are not accepted.
The program is currently available at 12 other airports, including regional neighbors like Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and San Diego International Airport (SAN).
