It’s been a bit of a slower week of the tail-end of the Super Bowl, but Las Vegas is still the entertainment capital of the world. From stories of love in honor of Valentine’s Day and exciting new tours, here are the top 5 news stories in Las Vegas of the week.
1. Nobu ranked third highest rated celebrity restaurant in the nation
A recent study ranked the top 10 best restaurants in the United States and Robert de Niro’s Nobu was ranked third in the nation, only behind Jon Bon Jovi’s JBJ Soul Kitchen in New Jersey and Norman Reedus and Greg Nicotero’s Nic and Norman’s restaurant in Georgia. Plus, all the other Nobu restaurants like the famed Malibu one. There are 3 Nobu restaurants in Las Vegas with the Virgin Hotels being the one that’s most highly ranked, and their Omakase menu runs $225.
2. Jennifer Lopez announces her 2024 tour with stops in Vegas
Jenny from the Block is going on tour for her “This is Me…Now” 2024 tour–and she’s making some stops in Las Vegas. After a 5-year hiatus, she will be performing a 30-day tour with songs from her iconic discography as well as her new album “This is Me…Now” that released Feb 16th, 2024. J-Lo will be performing at the T-Mobile Arena on Saturday, July 20th and tickets go on sale February 22nd at 10am.
3. First cannabis lounge to open in Clark County
Las Vegas’ first cannabis lounge is set to open on the Strip. Thrive Cannabis Marketplace will be the first in the state for on-site smoking and partaking in cannabis, and we feel like it’s about time for Las Vegas, a city of excess. The previous location used to be a strip club, Thrive, and is near landmarks like Circus Circus and the Wynn/Encore. The state has given the lounge its final OK so we’re hoping to see it later this year.
4. Usher tied the knot in Vegas as well as hundreds of couples for Valentine’s Day
Usher, who headlined the Superbowl, tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend, Jennifer Goicoechea after obtaining a marriage license in Las Vegas. According to a source, he made the decision to marry Jennifer after advice from his spiritual advisor and they got married at Vegas Weddings’ Terrace Gazebo. Many couples conditioned the tradition on Valentine’s Day with chapels like One Love Wedding Chapel marrying 15 couples but anticipating more from walk-ins.
5. There’s an immersive John Wick experience coming to Vegas
Director Chad Stahelski will team up with an entertainment company to bring an immersive John Wick experience to the Strip. The 12,000-square-foot area will be on the Area 15 campus where guests will descend into the underowld of the John Wick universe. We’ll keep you updated on the opening date.
