If you think the best food in Vegas is strictly confined to the Strip, it’s time to take a detour. Just minutes away, in the vibrant Arts District, Esther’s Kitchen proves exactly why it’s considered the best Italian restaurant in the city. It’s not just our opinion: Esther’s has been named ‘one of the best restaurants in the US’ by prestigious USA Today.
What’s Esther’s Kitchen famous for?

The Pasta? The pizza? Also – but at Esther’s Kitchen, the magic starts before you even look at the entrees. The restaurant is legendary for its house-made sourdough bread. Seriously, don’t skip the bread here – they have 9 (!!!) bakers in the kitchen for a reason. Served warm with a selection of spreads – like anchovy butter, rich burrata, and garlic confit – it’s the absolute perfect start.
That’s not to say “skip the pasta,” of course. Expect a masterclass in local, made-from-scratch Italian cooking. Local food experts from Reno Gazette Journal recommend the Pasta alla Chitarra, but you’ll be happy with whatever you choose here. If you’re craving a slice, their wood-fired sourdough pizzas will hit the spot. People love the Diavola.
The story behind the scenes
In charge of it all is Chef James Trees, who after an incredible career around the world chose to open his first restaurant in his hometown. Esther’s Kitchen is named after his great-aunt, who inspired and fostered his passion.
Dining at Esther’s Kitchen

While it’s always been popular, Esther’s maintains a refreshingly welcoming, casual-yet-upscale vibe. There’s no stiff service, like you sometimes find at high-end Strip restaurants. And while a lot of restaurants choose to focus either on brunch, lunch, or dinner, that’s not the case here. Come any time, and enjoy spectacular plates that fit the time of day.
Oh, and while you wait for whatever delicious dish you chose, don’t forget to treat yourself to a cocktail, like Nonna’s Secret Stash, with brown butter washed old forester, nonino, cherr, vanilla, lemon and egg.
Whether you’re a local or a tourist looking to escape the casino crowds, Esther’s Kitchen is a must-visit in 2026. Just do yourself a favor: grab a Uber. Parking is a challenge to say the least.
