If you’ve been hearing buzz about a massive new casino in California, here’s the scoop. The Hard Rock Casino Tejon has officially opened in Kern County. This $600 million project sits on Tejon Indian Tribe land, right at the base of the Grapevine. And believe it or not, it’s even larger than Las Vegas’ iconic Caesars Palace, boasting 150,000 square feet of space.
Is it worth the drive?

Let’s be honest, we have plenty of options right here. But if you’re heading to Southern California or have friends coming from there, this spot will definitely impress. It’s about a 4.5 to 5-hour drive from Las Vegas, roughly 300 miles via the I-15 S and CA-58 W, landing just south of Bakersfield.
What to expect at Hard Rock Casino Tejon

This casino is bringing some serious competition. Guests will find state-of-the-art gaming machines and amenities, including over 2,000 slot machines and more than 50 table games like Blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Three Card Poker, and Baccarat.
You’ll also find the classic Hard Rock Cafe, a high-end steak and seafood restaurant called Deep Cut, and a food hall featuring Asian street food, tacos, and Italian dishes. Visitors will also see Hard Rock’s music memorabilia collections, with nods to local artists. Check out Buck Owens’ signature guitars on display!
What’s next?
This is just the beginning. Phase 2 will add a 400-room hotel and a 2,800-seat Hard Rock Live venue for concerts and sports.
“This destination represents our Tribe’s vision, resilience, and longstanding commitment to creating opportunity for future generations,” said Chairman Octavio Escobedo III of the Tejon Indian Tribe. “We are proud to see this project come to life and to celebrate this moment alongside our partners and our community.”
According to an official press release, the casino has already created 1,000 permanent jobs and 5,000 construction-related roles.
