For so many Vegas locals, Mount Charleston is a wonderful escape: from the heat, from the sounds, from the lights, and everything else that comes with big-city-life. We’re truly blessed to have this nature retreat just a stone’s throw away. However, there’s a specific spot that we’ve all been missing for too long – here are the good news! Construction has officially kicked off on the new Mount Charleston Lodge, marking a major milestone 4 years after the beloved landmark was lost to a fire in September 2021.
The Lodge – past and present

For many locals, the Lodge wasn’t just a restaurant, but the unofficial “living room” of the high country. It was a great place to grab a hot chocolate after a snow day or a cold beer when the city hit peak summer. Thankfully, The Ellis family (who also own Ellis Island Casino) have broken ground on the rebuild as of this month. Our favorite mountain retreat is on its way back!
What can we expect?

The new design aims to capture the nostalgia of the original, while adding some (much-needed) modern upgrades. The classic and iconic A-frame silhouette is returning, but it will be part of a larger, 2-story structure. It will span nearly 11,000 square feet.
The plans include expanded dining areas and private event spaces – mountain wedding, anyone?! Oh, and maybe the most exciting part for anyone who remembers the weekend struggle – there’s a new bi-level parking deck!
When can we check it out?
While there isn’t a firm opening date yet, the Ellis family has stated they are going “full steam ahead” as weather permits. For now, the existing cabins remain open. Either way, seeing construction crews on-site is an amazing sign that the heart of Kyle Canyon is beating again!
