Merry Christmas, Las Vegas! The holidays fill our hearts and homes with a special kind of magic – but they can also come with shorter hours, traffic, and a few less-festive challenges. No need to worry, we’ve got you covered. Here are the official public transit hours in Las Vegas for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Wednesday, December 24, Christmas Eve
In Las Vegas, public transit will operate on a Saturday Service Schedule.
- RTC Buses: there will be slightly less frequent service on residential routes, though the Deuce (Strip & Downtown) continues to run 24/7 with high frequency.
- Las Vegas Monorail: open from 7 AM to 2 AM.
- Customer service: the RTC administration building and some transit center service desks may close early – typically by 5 PM.
Thursday, December 25, Christmas Day
All public transit will operate on a Sunday Service Schedule.
- RTC Buses: all routes will follow the Sunday timetable. Keep in mind that many “Express” routes (like the CX or DVX) have significantly reduced hours or limited trips on Sundays.
- The Deuce: remains operational 24/7, providing the most reliable way to travel between the Strip and Downtown.
- Las Vegas Monorail: open from 7 AM – 2 AM.
- Customer Service: the RTC call center and administration offices will be closed.
Pro-tips for Vegas travel during the holidays
- The Deuce is your best bet, as it has the most consistent service during the holidays. It runs every 15-20 minutes, even on Christmas Day.
- Avoid the ride-share surge – the bus or Monorail are much more budget-friendly alternatives.
- Free rides – RTC usually offers free rides on New Year’s Eve starting at 6 PM through 9 AM on New Year’s Day.
Happy holidays and safe travels!
