Get ready, Vegas! The countdown to the Presidential Election is underway — mark your calendars for Election Day on November 5, 2024. To help you get ready for this important day, we’ve created a guide to make your experience as smooth as possible. Read on to find everything you need to know before you vote in Vegas.
Can I vote in Vegas?
You can vote in Vegas as long as you meet the following criteria:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be at least 18 years old before or on Election Day
- Have continuously resided in Nevada and the county for at least 30 days before the election
- Have continuously resided in the precinct for at least 10 days before the next election
- You haven’t been declared by a court to be mentally incompetent unless you’ve had your legal capacity restored
Do I have to be registered to vote?
Yes. Here are a couple of ways in which you could have already registered, or how you can do it in person, on November 5.
- Online registration deadline: Wednesday, October 23, 2024
- Register by mail deadline: Must be postmarked by Tuesday, October 8, 2024
- In person registration deadline: Tuesday, November 5, 2024
In other words, if you haven’t registered online or by mail by now, you must register – and vote – in person, on Tuesday. While the process is still pretty convenient, there a couple of things to keep in mind – for example, that your passport isn’t a valid ID in this case. Please read this page carefully if you’re looking at same-day registration.
