If you love scrolling through hundreds of reels with delicious food and ‘must-try recipes’, chances are, you came across the so-called ‘omurice’. This Japanese omelet became viral in the past years, due to 2 main reasons: it’s silky, yummy, and delicious; and cutting through it honestly makes for the perfect TikTok or reel. Did we get your attention? Good – ’cause we just got Kyuramen! This New York-based chain, known for its creative ramen dishes and omurice, just arrived in Henderson.
Ok – so what is omurice, actually?

To put it simply, it’s an omelet, yet calling it just that feels a bit insulting. Short for omelette rice, this popular Japanese comfort food combines Western and Asian cooking styles. Here’s what’s in it:
- Seasoned rice: usually fried with ketchup, onions, and chicken.
- A fluffy, soft omelet: wrapped around or draped over the rice.
- Topped with sauce: most commonly (and initially) ketchup, but now demi-glace or curry sauce are also used.
This dish became popular in Japan in the early 20th century as part of Western-influenced Japanese cuisine. Lately, however – with the great help of social media – it became more and more popular throughout the whole world.
Omurice at Kyuramen
If you’d like to try it out, just head to newly opened Kyuramen. The classic is served on top of chicken fried rice, topped with curry sauce or demi-glace. Wanna elevate your experience? Go for the tonkatsu omurice, which is the same as above, plus a delicious piece of breaded pork on top.
About the restaurant & what’s on the menu

Kyuramen is a love letter to Japanese ramen, born from a founder who spent years traveling Japan just to find the perfect bowl. The whole mission behind Kyuramen is to take the “fancy” out of high-end ramen. The founder wanted to make authentic Japanese noodles an affordable, daily luxury rather than a rare treat. In fact, it was designed specifically with the “working class and student population” in mind.
When it comes to their soup base, the ‘ramen masters’ describe their broth with four specific words: white, thick, fresh, and fragrant. Every bowl comes loaded with the classics done right: fresh Japanese-style pork roast, the iconic 7-minute boiled egg, and a fresh pop of green onions.
Besides their legendary ramen and omurice, the menu also features delicious starters – such as takoyaki octopus balls, spring rolls, karage chicken, dumplings, edamame, and many more – as well as Japanese inspired burgers.
The restaurant also features an open kitchen, and a cute wishing tree where you can hang your wishes! See you there?
