They say that ‘when one door closes, another one opens’ – or in this case, when a flight is missed, a forever home is found. At least, that was the case for the viral Goldendoodle that was earlier abandoned at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.
What happened with the viral puppy abandoned at the Vegas airport?

Earlier this month, a 2-year-old Goldendoodle captured hearts around the world after being abandoned at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. On February 2, his former owner tied him to a baggage sizer at a ticket counter when she was denied boarding for failing to provide proper service dog documentation. Then, she left the pup behind and attempted to catch her flight anyway. Fortunately, she was quickly tracked down and arrested. The event left the sweet dog in the care of local authorities.
Nicknamed ‘JetBlue’ by the Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas, the pup instantly became a viral sensation. And the internet did its thing! The rescue received over 2,700 adoption applications from dog lovers across the globe, hoping to give him a second chance.
But JetBlue didn’t have to look far for his perfect match.
JetBlue was adopted by his rescuer
In a heartwarming twist of fate, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officer Skeeter Black – one of the very first responders who helped rescue the poor pup – was chosen to take him home. As it turns out, the Officer and his family had already been pre-approved by the rescue to adopt a doodle months prior. If that ain’t karma…
This past weekend, the adoption became official. JetBlue is now happily settling in with his new family. In other words…he’s just been ‘upgraded to 1st class.’
Moreover, JetBlue (the airline) donated $6,000 to Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas. The money will help cover surgeries for other dogs currently in their care.
